Description

2017 updated Gooblegomp reference sheet

GOOBLEGOMPS are large, dragon-like creatures that have characteristics similar to mythical dragons and frogs. The origin of the creatures is unkown, but they are in fact extraterrestrial and do not come from Earth. They have a strange affinity for human culture and are mostly interested in the fun things we do. They are very gluttonous and enjoy food a lot. Most Gooblegomps come in pleasing, pastel colors.

All of the basic reading is in the graphic, but if you want to know more about the species, read on!

MORE ANATOMY INFO
======

Frog traits

In the front of the throat, Gooblegomps have vocal sacs that are very similar to a frog's. A frog's sac lies flush with the body when not in use, but a Gooblegomp's will stay protruded. The sac has the same functionality as a frog's, meaning they can expand it to make their voice louder. The sac also aids in the production of smoke, but studies are still being done on how.

Salamander traits

Some species of salamanders have been found to regrow entire lost limbs, and even parts of damaged organs. What's amazing about the regeneration abilities in Gooblegomps is their size. Salamanders are small and even then it takes 40-50 days to regrow limbs, but Gooblegomps are significantly larger than salamander and can accomplish the same task in 10-30 days.

Amphibian traits

Most amphibians feel slimy because they have mucus on their skin that helps keep them hydrated. Gooblegomps are so large that this mucus layer is much, much thicker. In fact their entire epidermis is just made out of mucus that drips off of their bodies like goo. The mucus layer is constantly being reabsorbed and recycled, so not all of the mucus is always lost because it drips off of the body.

DNA

The similarities to existing creatures is no surprise because Gooblegomps have DNA spliced from frogs, axolotls, and several other species of amphibians. Surprisingly they have some DNA from octopuses, squids, and slugs, as well as some mammalian DNA. What's surprising is the amount of DNA that has unknown origins. Studies have not been able to link some strands of DNA to existing animals on earth.

Anomalies

Scientists do not know that Gooblegomps are extraterrestrial creatures, so they cannot explain the anomalies in their DNA patterns. No creature on Earth is amphibian while also being able to regulate their own body temperature, and their wings and extra set of limbs is unexplained. As scientists are further studying the origins of Gooblegomps, they continue to come closer to the truth of where the creatures came from.
