Antarctica, November 3rd, 2054: After luring Godzilla to Antarctica in the flying submarine, the Gotengo, and at the cost of many lives, humanity is finally able to defeat Godzilla by sealing him away in ice. After entrapping him inside of a metal box, Godzilla is carried to the heart of Tokyo where a tower is built around him to serve as a prison and a monument for the people of the city Godzilla burned one hundred years ago on the same date as the world celebrates their victory over the King of the Monsters, confident he will remain frozen in the heart of the Shōri Tower for years to come...

Or so they think.
