Box-office? I'm gonna make it simple for you: Competition: There was Endgame and other movies that overshadowed KOTM. Plus, the kaiju genre is relatively niche.
Seriously, you need to stop claiming that the team behind KOTM weren't passionate about it, because they are passionate. They worked as much as they could to deliver a Godzilla film fans have been awaiting for many years.

Allow me to explain: It came out in the same summer as Avengers: Endgame, Aladdin, Detective Pikachu, etc. Those movies have large crowds and built in audiences, especially Endgame, where too many people are into Marvel and Disney, which explains why KOTM didn't do so hot financially.

If i had different expectations going into the film i might agree but in anticipation for king of the monsters i was for the most part hoping to see a re-imagined version of Ghidorah with the Dragon-like aspects hes known for but more polished/defined which is why i overall was pleased with the final version. Though looking at the older concepts of his design I do rather like how strange/alien they look yet familiar enough to be Ghidorah, i wouldn't have been disappointed to see them on screen (in fact i actually admire them, particularly the first and third) . however even if I preferred these over what we got i still wouldn't say the final rendition is "bad" at all let alone "one of the worst".

I used links to illustrate my point mostly because I was under the impression you were basing your issues with said powers (gravity beams) on how they don't resemble past versions of it enough (which is a mistake on my part). I was trying to make the case that you could still see the cackling/erratic aspect to them and how i didn't really see it being more directional as an issue. Of course it has problems, there's quite a few decisions that could've been made during production to mitigate them. Its just that i think we both have different grievances with the movie itself like how i wanted to see some character elements, dialogue and scenes from the novelization in the movie to give us some more depth to the human protagonists plight. Even still it wasn't enough to dampen my enjoyment while watching the action.
