I actually drew this last autumn & early winter, while watching the geese fly south and seeing a few waterfowl stay behind. Kind of wondered what prompted some to stay, and some to go. Besides species habits/traits, that is.Actually, I think I'm going to have to research this a bit. ^_^

What Nikki said. We have some Canada geese nearby that decided migration is for the birds (ha) and they just stay put. But this is the South, the weather in winter is (usually) mild, and they've set up shop at an apartment complex where people regularly feed them. So, I guess even practicality will eventually win out over even the deepest of instincts!

Yeah we have year-round geese but also hear and see geese migrating... I wonder too!
