Description Mini ring tailed lemur referenced by sekhmet-stock.deviantart.com/a… by sekhmet-stock . Oh, how I love the PR179 + PB60 combination, and how badly it always scans!

Actually, this is a second try in this mini painting- first version was slightly larger (~ 8 x 5 cm) and done on S&B Epsilon paper I had been given a sample of! (And here I am to write down the notes, so as to not forget the experience when deciding to buy some paper! So--S&B Epsilon is quite thin and takes water surprisingly well for its thickness, but still it buckles a lot more than comfortable in my usual technique. It dries quickly and lifts easily- may too much so! Colors stay much smoother and brighter on it than on Fontenay, especially when painting white on dark wash! However, paper is super white, so using both white paint and whiteness of the paper makes the paint look yellowish and dirty. BAD for the subject chosen, may not matter at all in different subjects/techniques.)

Beautiful!Β It shows you put a lot of effort in the details! How do you achieve such a relief look of the background color?

Thanks! It is caused simply by texture of the paper used- and the fact the picture is small and on most displays shows bigger than in real life! I also used several layer of paint mix (mix of pigments mentioned in comment under the picture) but I varied the ratio a tiny bit between the layers- one was more bluish, next more reddish and so on.

Now this is a beauty! You are making leaps and bounds with your lighting!

Thank you- although in this case, the beautiful lighting is one of the strong points of the reference picture rather than my work!
