P.P.S.
It also helps when you know that you're going to get paid for the work. It gives you the motivation and makes you work more 'accurate' and 'clear'.

Many hours of tiring, boring, wrist-painful inking with some swearing and a lot of coffee. All the fun ends with a pencil art. From that point it's a lot of dull work and a constant struggle with my 'Bah, screw it!' inner voice.
So my line work is clean because I make myself to draw it that way. It's a really boring process, but it must be done. )
P.S.
'Manga Studio 5' helps a lot, too. You should try that program - it's perfect for inking.

Haha its the same for me except my 'Bah, screw it!' threshold comes waaaaay before yours. And I actually have Manga Studio installed but anything other than SAI or PS makes me uncomfortable :s

Ehh, self-torture is my primary hobby. )
MS can be confusing indeed. All those menus and settings literally scared me at first.

I'm not sure if it was intentional or not, but it took me more than a few moments to realize that this was a guy.

His character sheet depicted him as cold and feminine, so I decided to transfer it to my drawing.
