Description 6th Challenge in Project Designer 7. see for all the entries!

The Challenge: Design an outfit inspired by an accessory. The outfit and accessory should look like they were made for each other. The shoes I chose are pictured in the art and they are by Azzedine Alaia.

My Model: July

Materials: cotton-poly blend jersey (color fast and suitable for swimwear), calf suede, sheer white cotton voile.

My inspiration, aside from the shoes was the beach... but not exactly what you would think, more along the line of what washes up on shore, like seaweed, drift wood, ocean glass, and shells. I chose to design swimwear, mainly because I do not get to often and its a skill I feel I need to keep fresh, and because I felt the straps on the sandal would lend it self nicely to a swimsuit, monokini style. I added the sheer cover up to finish the outfit, it makes it a bit more modest, appropriate for a beach cook out or party, or if she just wants to protect her skin from the sun for a bit (I know I certainly need to! ) I really am happy with this design, something new and different from the usual evening or dress sportswear you see from me.

This design was done with copic markers, colored pencils, and watercolor pencils on marker paper.

I appreciate any advice or comments on my design and rendering!
