I absolutely love the brush strokes in your painting. That's got to be my absolute favorite part of this piece. The way the brush strokes delineate the background really adds to the slightly matrix-y feel. If you've ever had an overload moment before, where your mind kind of blanks out for a moment, that's what that background reminds me of. The crow/raven (pretty sure it's a raven but I'm no ornithologist) makes for a striking silhouette against the white. The red cracks spreading up from the bottom add to the slightly menacing feel and give the whole piece a feeling of not quite dread. Anticipation? Tension? Suspense is a good word.

Something is going to happen.

The stars off are definitely not a criticism of execution or idea. I don't tend to give 5/5s. I see 3 as Average, and 4 as Above Average.

Overall this piece is a really attention grabbing one. You use Painter well and I love the slight watercolor or ink feel to the rocks' lineart. An impressive painting, and a wonderful gift.
