Oh, damn, but I like this one. Very, very cool lightplay, and the face has so much character. Good work, seriously. Oh it's Demeter alright (yeah, because I know her personally, apparently
I would have loved to see a lighter background on the right side, so that the light didn't just accentuate her face, thought it's cool as it is. Actually, what I'd have really loved to see, would have been some faint glow coming off of her face (like, you know, light does reflect - even off of skin), but I'm not sure that's doable.
Ah, nevermind. It's great.

What strikes me the most about this picture is the level of contrast. Most of lighttones are right beside the darktones-making them very noticeable. In case you didn't know much about me, I think contrast is great, especially when expressing someone so powerful.
I also like the values on the face, especially the nose and lip. This might because I'm strange, ha! The composition of the picture includes informal balance, one my favorite ways to place subjects. Obviously, the hair adds a majestic sort of movement to the peice, and the way that her face is looking up further expresses her importance in society, or so, back then.
However...something about her face concerned me. So, I looked at several people in my household and forced them to tilt their heads in that angle. I'm really mean like that, ha-ha. Now, what I found truely depends on the shape of the face and how one depicts it.
As I see it, the eyes are slightly too close to the edge of the nose. I believe this is because that I preffer to have the middle of the eye (the starting point in the profile) past the edge of the nostril.
In conclusion, as many others have noted, this is a work of great talent that might need an optional touch-up.
