when i saw this i emedietly thought about baltic strongholds. (latvia) basicly estonia and latvia were the same then.

Not the same, but similar, yes. Especially when you consider the buildings.
I think the common partΒ between Estonians and Latvians at that time would be best observed in the Livonian people. There is a pretty nice exhibition about that in the Turaida Museum .

Well, at that time in history and in that particular region, neither matches nor molotov coctails weren't available. And when the stronghold is well guarded, any other attempts of fire-raising are rather difficult.
