Description
Instead of making a new lion picture, I decided that it was high time for me to readdress some of my old pieces. I did redo my reference for Rani, but I still have Kopa, Tiifu, Nuka, Vitani, and Kion. Plus I had a poll meant for either Zuri and Tiifu that I ended up disregarding because my interest in TLK had waned by that time. But I decided to do her first and I think I did a good job. My original image had removed her markings, but I decided to restore them to her because I have the means to explain them (Kamaria and Jamal).

Her father Cheka is a character from Twisted Wonderland, the nephew of Leona of Savannaclaw. I may try drawing him at some time, but no promises on the when.

Zuri and Ikuseghan are born to Chaphaza not long after the Nje Pride is exiled from the Pride Lands. Zuri quickly proves to be a rather vain cub and hates living in the Outlands because it is much to hot and dirty and the termites get into her fur and make her so itchy! The orange cub gets fed up with this way of life and wanders away from home one day. She ends up at the border with the Ndona and is found by Nala who is leading a hunting party. Zuri refuses to answer any questions about herself or her family, just that she did not want to go back because it was so miserable. Not really knowing what to do with the cub, the lionesses decide to abandon the hunt in favor of taking Zuri back to Pride Rock and there it is decided that she can stay. With her cubs now grown up and her husband dead, Nala has been dedicating herself to the pride. The sight of the poor cub pains her and Nala makes the choice to adopt Zuri if the cub will have her. Zuri seems in awe that the former queen would be so interested in her and eagerly agrees. From then on Zuri is a proud member of the Ndona Pride and is one of Kiara's best friends (along with Tiifu). She does not really think about her mother or sister back home in the Outlands, and Chaphaza and Ikuseghan both have written the orange cub off as being dead.

During the war between the Nje and Ndona, Zuri finds herself confronted by two lionesses. It is Chaphaza and Ikuseghan and both easily overpower and pin Zuri down. But then Chaphaza pauses before she can deal the final blow. Despite the rain and smell of blood, mud, and damp fur, the older lioness recognizes Zuri's scent and now a closer look reveals her lost daughter to her. Ikuseghan sees it as well. For a moment neither of the three lions move, then Chaphaza and Ikuseghan both leave to find new opponents.

After the war ends and Zira has fallen to her death, the two prides are joined for a brief period of time. Zuri avoids her mother and sister whenever she can, but often finds herself in the same hunting party (as Zuri has got the muscle to help pull prey down). Her sister ignores her and Chaphaza always gives her a judging look. When the Nje Pride joins Kovu in exile, Zuri breathes a sight of relief and tries to enjoy the new life that she had made for herself.

Still...part of her regrets her actions all those years ago.
