Description
A Pakku rotundus specimen, part of my 8-Bit Labs series of sculptures. Watch the vid here: [link]Each piece is based on a classic videogame character as seen through the prism of real-life anatomy. They are rendered in clay, painted with acrylics and sealed in resin to give the appearance of a specimen preserved in formaldehyde. Seen here is a P. rotundus, which is based on Pac Man.

Strangely, the sculpture looks similar to ET in my view. Maybe its because how realistic it looks.

That is so very awesome, I love how the eyes looks real, not to mention the skin... The tongue creeps me out though, did you mold it on a pork's tongue or something? I'd see that sculpture in my backyard and I'd scream, it looks SO REAL!
You should do a Q*Bert figure one of these days using your technique, it'd be neat!

Thank you! The eyes were tricky but fun. It was an idea I had for a long time and was waiting for a chance to work on it (none of the plant sculptures had eyes). Basically, I sculpted the concave part of the eye with clay, with a pupil and the little fibers (tho you can barely tell). Then, after I painted it, I poured drops of glossy finish over it, waited till it dried, poured some more, so and and so forth until I had a dome shape. The cool thing is that the excess of it gave it a foggy look, with the eyes looking dead.
