the thing about the lion king characters, its their mouth and paw i could never get right. here you drew them perfectly. the exact amount of oomph. this is just really good.

Well, I was 4 or 5 years old when I saw the Lion King at the cinema but I cried, of course, just as much as you did, if not more What a sad scene, so full of emotion. it always amazes me how simple drawings in animation manage to make people laugh or cry of... whatever. Anyway, this drawing is really beautiful. You really can recognize the scene and the bacjround makes it all the more beautiful. I love how they said in the dvd that they wanted to use that quote of hamlet too.

And your whole gallery is quite amazing by the way. Very impressive for a 20 year old!

I know, animation does capture emotions so vividly, it is amazing. The general colour/tone of Mufasa in that scene is very noticeably different, as it enhances the depiction of him as lifeless

Thankyou very much for your kind words, it means a lot to me

Beautiful! Had to grab my VHS and watch it after seeing this. So sad....glad to see I'm not the only one that cries when Mufasa dies. I swear it gets harder the older I get...

Cool trivia, I knew it mimiced Hamlet, but I didn't realise they were going to put that line in. Was thinking about Lion King 2, that's kinda like Romeo and Juliet, Rafiki as the priest when they go to Upendi and all that jazz....
Okay, yes. I know it's a little stretched....

Yeah it does get harder, especially as you fully understand revenge, malice, jealousy and the fact that poor Simba is fatherless. Yeah Lion King 2 is very much like Romeo and Juliet, the two rival families with Kovu and Kiara stuck in between, Nuka dies, etc etc. I didn't much care for Romeo and Juliet when i was at school, i love the story, but it is just way to depressing lol

Yeah, me too. I liked Paris and didn't like Romeo so I guess a lot of the plot-based affection was lost on me after he died >_>

Great job. We won't talk about how old I was when the movie came out, but I cried when he died too. Good movie!

Didn't they use "Good Night Sweet Prince" in Aladdin?
I think they did when Aladdin was going to leave on the carpet from her balcony, and then they kiss... maybe?

Hmm, i dunno, maybe. Can't remember. Thats another film i've gotta watch again, better dig that out of the attic. Thought 'Good Night Sweet Prince' would have bene used in a different context in Aladdin. Horatio says that line when Hamlet dies

Aww, that's so sad. Mufasa was my favorite, too, and I still cry, and also am in need of another copy! It does mimic Hamlet, you're so right! You did a great job, I love it, it's so pretty yet sad. I likey.

Mufasa's my favorite character too. I really like this drawing. Love the title too...how awesome is it that Lion King derives from Hamlet. I never thought of that before, but now that you mention it, it is true.
