Description Sargent Sousuke Sagara from Full Metal Panic!

Sagara is one of my favourite characters, yet I havn't dont any worthy fan art of him. So here's one I've been working on for a few weeks now.
This is the first piece that I've done drafts and planning for, so I'm quite proud of it

Drawn in pencil first and then digitally coloured.

I love all the detail in this Kalgeo, you've really put in a lot of work haven't you? I especially like the bullets hitting the dirt, they look great. Sagara better be careful he doesn't get shot

Sorry to disappoint you, because I myself hate re-making once made work, but gun stock goes to the same right shoulder, just like the grip goes to right hand. They always do (of course that could be left-left for left-handed).

This is happening because eye of shooter, gun and hands should be on one line to shoot straight and minimize recoil. So, face should be visible and gun stock should not.

Also, modern guns asymmetrical, so you never should mirror existing image. Better always do look for correct reference photo before actual beginning of work.

And third problem - .22lr never been good in anything, but sport and _very_ small game hunting. You know, squirrels, hamsters, pigeons - that kind of stuff. It is very strange to see member of illegal mercenary unit in actual combat with a... hm... pea-shooter.

Last but not least. You totally forgot about any targeting devices at all. Your reference source actually has one, which your drawing has not. I recommend to go-o-o-ogle some "picatinny rail" photos, because they don't just sit there pretty polished to look cool and scary, they actually should carry some futuristic-looking targeting and sighting device.

Next time I highly recommend visit to world.guns.ru for references of possible weapon and olegvolk.net as large archive of high-quality photos of guns, people, people with guns and gun-parts.

Pfew! Seems like my inner rivetofag goes to sleep finally. No offence meant in any way possible, honestly

HAHA ... thanks, handy tips there. I'll definitley use those sites.
It didn't even dawn on me that the other side might be different on the gun. I know theres alot of things missing on my gun, particuarily the targeting devices and a couple of other elements. I could say it's an artist's interpretation of the scene, but really I got laaaazy *smacks hand*. But I honestly didn't expect/need everything to be 100% accurate in context and form.

Yeah ... don't normally do things with a background or props so I took a couple of short cuts ... forgive me I thought this peashooter was used in the military ... shows how much I know. Next time I'll be sure to do some more research on such things so I can get them accurate.

Thanks again for the pointers, I'll be sure to use those sites next time I do an image with a gun.
