Description
This was something I doodled at work and decided I wanted to use it for some more, much needed, CS2 painting practice. Jeslyn is an OC of mine (that has nothing to do with AvP, actually) who is a demon hunter. Tia'ja belongs to . I started writing a short story to go along with this, but it quickly became a novel. Instead, I butchered that and made it shorter...relatively speaking and took some creative liberties. Anyways, enjoy!

Story Excerpt:

After nearly 50 Ooman years of life, Tia’ja had been on few hunts as thrilling as this promised to be. Tia’ja’s clan had seeded this planet long ago, five centuries before her birth. Only those of true skill and only the strongest of hunters had ever come here; the last being almost 300 years past. No records of his hunt could be found save a few scraps. Tia’ja did learn that none of their technology seemed to work on the planet’s surface, which only made it that much more elating. She had to rely on an ancient model drop pod to make landfall and then get back to her clan ship. To make matters even more unpredictable, scanners could not read the surface from orbit and Tia’ja had no idea where she was going to end up when the pod hit. If the angrily blinking alarm was any indication, she was about to find out very soon…

Jeslyn sidestepped the vicious tail as it shot straight for her head, and reversed her spin to bring the mighty blade down through the demon’s chitinous hide. Its elongated, eyeless head thumped to the ground. Jeslyn watched as the burning blood began eating away at the vegetation. This was the third one today. She usually didn’t see more than one a month or so, but if the reports were true then Jeslyn knew she had only started hunting today. She supposed that was the life of a Silver Knight.

A double clap of thunder catches her attention, and Jeslyn looks to the north in time to see a streak of fire shoot down into the forest less than a league away…

Having determined, as best she could, that the drop pod was still useable, Tia’ja set off to the south. As best as she could determine from the landscape, a likely spot for a hive should only be a few kilometers in this direction. Tia’ja shook her head. Too many decades on the hunt have made this almost predictable. She should be encountering perimeter drones any time – ah, one was already trying to get the drop on her. Stupid. Tia’ja stood perfectly still with her back to the kainde amedha. A mere moment before it was able to lash out with it’s taloned claws, Tia’ja spun on the drone and grabbed its throat. Without slowing, or bothering to extend her claws, Tia’ja lifted the drone from the earth before bringing its skull down upon the rocks. She was gone before its lifeblood had even begun to pour out upon the soil. Being a matriarch of her clan, Tia’ja had little concern over such small prey. It seemed, however, another drone was up ahead watching her from the thick of the forest…

By the Goddess! The Black Death were quick and the deadliest of the demons on Kria. She had seen many towns wiped out by a single one, and yet this yellow-ochre skinned demoness slew one like it was nothing! This she-demon, for it was plainly obvious that it was female, stood at least 20 hands tall. She was nearly the height of the larger Black Death. Jeslyn herself stood a generous 16 hands, but this demoness made her seem short in comparison. She – she wasn’t up ahead anymore! Goddess bless, she was getting careless.

At the nearly silent sound of a footfall, Jeslyn whips around, swinging her sword, the Heaven Blade, in a large arc. She takes down a small tree, but the monstrous demon woman nimbly steps out of reach.

Tia’ja stared at this girl before her, baffled. This planet shouldn’t be inhabited by anyone with the kainde amedha here for so long. The girl appeared similar to the Oomans, but her ears ended in points and she was much quicker than any Ooman. The strange girl whipped that monstrous sword about as though it weighed nothing, yet it looked heavier than Tia’ja adorned in her armor would weigh.

“I know not who summoned you, she-devil, but I can guarantee you will be returning to the Hell from whence you came,” Jeslyn said as she readied her sword for another strike. This was going to be an interesting fight, to say the least. Jeslyn wasn’t sure, but the demoness appeared to be looking upon her with genuine respect and seemed to be enjoying this. She supposed it would be rude to disappoint…

Tia’ja did not understand the sing-song melodic language, but it wasn’t hard to see her intent. Some old sentiment for Oomans made Tia’ja hesitate and she nearly lost her head for it, as the sword cut through the air at a blinding speed. Extending her claws, Tia’ja stood at the ready. She would have to get in very close to get passed that sword, and she knew this warrior would not make it easy. Perhaps this would be more fun than she thought…
