Description So here is my character Oki. This is supposed to be a kinda "real version" of him ; I still need practice
The reason for the tittle is that his name is in japanese and supposedly it means open ocean.
This was mostly a test drive because I finally got a drawing tablet and well I HAD TO draw an orca I'm very happy on how it turned out, one of my fav parts of this piece is the kelp forest, I've never done something like it and well just extremely happy that my first try don't look that bad.

I spent a few long hours on it, just because it's a huge file ( 26 x 16 ) something like that hehe and photoshop would stop responding and I would forget to save frequently... well all you digital artist know the drill

Anyway I hope you guys like it and I'm always up to read your comments and critique

I'm going to let this to be downloadable *if thats even a word* but plz respect my work.

Enjoy

I think it was colored well. Water webbing is hard and here it is done well. I also like how the shading reflexes the light source. You put a lot of thought into the coloring.
The only thing is the dorsal and flukes seem too large. I wish there was more detail done to the surface of the water. Like the detail on the orca. The patches are very original, but the view is not. Though I do feel like I'm looking at him under the water. Over all it's done very well!! I can't wait to see more from you!

This was my first and I hope I did it right e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/sā€¦ " width="15" height="15" alt="" title=" (Smile)" />

He's a beaut. The only thing I might critique is that his dorsal fin and saddle should be situated a bit further back. But as this was done in 2009, I'm pretty sure you've noted that little mistake by now.

See I'm doing a project at school and I have to make a pop up book and I need to make the pictures myself, but I can't find any tutorial on how to draw the open ocean underneath the waves like you have! Could you tell me how you done it please??
