What I liked most about this photograph is how it feels like a screenshot from a documentary or a movie, yet it is not one - it is a proper, well executed photograph. Which is really good and it helped this picture's depth an awful lot.

I personally liked it All in all, a good photograph. It has all your hallmarks (the colours and angle and slick smoothness) combined with a really savvy title. Good stuff

What would the documentary be about?

And thanks again, I do what I can with those savvy titles

New York? Cities? Have you seen Life in a Day? Its a Youtube produced movie in which they took the collective lives of people from all parts of the world, and amalgamated them to show life in a day. Its nice.

You do the same bro

Last I checked, it was ironically two or three hours. Which is kind of interesting. Truly.

Yay! Go square form.

It's quite interesting that the humans themselves are quite dark, in contrast to the brightness of the more artificial things like the buildings and so on. The square form works great with the overall piece, and the longer exposure emphasises the concept very well. We get a profound sense that time is fleeting, that our own time here on Earth is but a whisper.

Great piece.

Did you ever tell me why you like squares so much?

I hadn't thought about the darkness of the people against the background, but that's a good observation - could be read in a number of ways. And yeah, we're only here for a short short moment, its no good to squabble over little things in the grand scheme of it all Β I was playing with the long exposure on that whole trip. Did you take/keep any of your long exposure shots?

Thanks much

I think I may have told you why I liked squares.

I don't think I took that many out on the street itself, as you need a good support and I didn't have one. That, and I didn't want to use any.

And you won't tell me again (if you ever told me at all)? Β

I think my phone-background is one of the shots from that NYC trip that I took on the street You didn't wanna use any support?

That is very likely.

Yeah, I remember. The support there was intense man.

Oh dear...well, the good thing is that the dad did answer all the kid's questions.

Why won't you tell me again (if you ever told me in the first place)?

How was the support intense?

Thank you

With the moments thing...I think it of it like us flickering in and out of existence from moment to moment (but the moments are so small/close together that the instance of nonexistence goes unnoticed by us).Β en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sufi_met…

pinkyaliya In reply to Kamal-Q [2015-02-04 16:30:32 +0000 UTC]

If that wasn't clear - I was poking fun at the juxtaposition of the word long [in long exposure] and your comment on short existences : )

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Kamal-Q In reply to pinkyaliya [2015-02-06 15:16:51 +0000 UTC]

I should have caught that wordplay

Your example of the flickering light bulb is just what I meant, said it better than I could

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 0

pinkyaliya In reply to Kamal-Q [2015-02-04 16:10:03 +0000 UTC]

I got you, I remember studying this. It's like we're dying (returning to God) and coming back continuously and simultaneously... many many times within a small moment? Like a lightbulb on AC, the moments are too frequent to notice that the light flickers.
I was just making an allusion to the use of your word in"long" exposure. In your long exposure, you captured those flickers but I assume it as a continuous existence. I assume that the two characters in your image have existed for as long as that photograph was taken, but (according to this thought) I know that their existence flickered even in this moment.
