My wife always mocks the Smart Fortwo calling it "A new invalidka". "Invalid" means "disabled" in Russian, and "invalidka" was a microcar for disabled people that was produced in the USSR (and could be purchased for a "funny" money by some lucky disabled people). "Old invalidka" . And "new invalidka" .

Yes, we have something very similar to the invalidka - actually, it very much is one, as it's primarily aimed at aged and infirm persons who are unable to drive normal cars (and which can be driven - or in the near future, could be driven as those days are coming to an end) without the driver having a licence.
