I seem to remember seeing a building very similar to that in the Stephansplatz in Vienna, Austria.

Ah chucks, reminds me I still have to upload my matte painting where everyone in my class used this building

We had to make a matte paining about Brussels in a distant future, but where everything is in Art Nouveau style, and this building just screams Art-Nouveau

This is the Hofbergstraat/Rue Montagne de la Cour, not far from the Brussels Central station. :3

There actually are quite a few interesting buildings grouped together there - from the old Justice palace, to the Museum of Fine Art and the Magritte Museum, to the "Mont des Arts", the "Eglise Notre Dame du Sablon", the Synagogue of Brussels and the Music Conservatory - all at a stone's throw distance of one another (although I firmly advise you not to throw said stone... )

The Justice Palace is an awkward and hard building to photograph - I was there earlier today, bit I feel my pictures are much worse than yours.

The scaffolding doesn't make things easier either. Β The whole building has been clad in it for so many years, they now actually had to start restoring the scaffolding itself as well!

The Grand Synagogue and the Royal Conservatory are built next to one another, so much so that at first it wasn't clear to me if they were one building, or two seperate ones...

What was the Old England company ?

kanyiko In reply to JSH50 [2015-09-01 22:03:36 +0000 UTC]

Sorry for the late reply - the "Old England Company" was a general warehouse, which mostly sold clothes. Β They also - apparently - had quite a good restaurant.
