Berchem (Belgium), July 13th 2017

"Tranche 1" PCC-tram 7043 (formerly 2043) of Belgian public transport company De Lijn passes through the majestuous Cogels-Osylei.

Tram 7043 is wearing a publicitary livery of the Flemish youth radio station Studio Brussel. It was delivered to the M.I.V.A., the Antwerp public transport company, on March 19th 1962, and absorbed into the fleet of the Flemish public transport company De Lijn on its formation in 1991.

Time is fast running out for the PCC 'Gen 1' trams, 60 trams built by La Brugeoise et Nivelles and ACEC and delivered between 1960 and 1962. With a small dozen already retired in recent years, the remainder of these 55/57 year old trams is now being withdrawn from service as they are being replaced by the new generation of Albatros (Bombardier Flexity) trams.
