Redraw. Thranduil.ΒWe have difficult relationship with this painting... I tried to redraw It for 2 times. And every time It wasn`t quite good... I hope, that we can become friends at the third time... xD

Oh dear, you turn my word upside down with your artwork! Why? I will tell you! I donΒ΄t like Thran, I never did it since I was reading "The hobbit" when I was a young girl, really long ago! I found him selfish, arrogant, unfair to the dwarfs. No, he never was my friend. Then, many years later, I saw the film with Lee Pace as Thranduil - a perfect cast! Such an elegant man, but...I still didnΒ΄t like Thranduil.
And now I see this picture which you draw or rather both of these pictures, for I like the elder one too. I see now a lonesome king, emotional and thoughtful, mourning the loss of all that he never could have.

The face and hair is amazing, I love it very much! But for me, the clothes look as if they were on fire now ...

You are right. The energy of the art is calm, but sad.
I always feel Thranduil not as glam elvenking (as in the movie), but tragic and sad personality.
I think for his long life he had accumulated a lot of memories and regrets...)
And the colors of his clothes can show the fire and the sun...Β This is the case when the feelings are mixed and depends on the beholder...Β

Oh but it wasn't Thranduil before, it was my dear Joe MacMillan, from the TV series Halt and Catch Fire.
But perhaps you mistook him for Thanduil, since Joe is portrayed by Lee Pace too ^^
