I think you should draw a picture of Brooke wayne as normal Brooke Wayne so we know what she looks like outside of the costume.Β

Wow, Nice concept. Batman genderbent is still...Batman.
Love that.
Also, Brooke Wayne's appearance is very fitting. She looks obviously feminine but has the build of someone who exercises regularly, just like Bruce.
The vibe I get from both pictures gives me the impression that this is what Batman/Brooke Wayne would like genderbent.
Only critique I have is that the upper lip somewhat throws me off. I'm not sure if that is lipstick or not, but if it is, it seems off-putting to have it there in comparison to the rest of the masculine form.

This is a pretty cool idea. I've always liked the idea of Batman as more of a symbol than one particular person.
A chinpad ala the new TV Flash design would be a good way for her to mimic that famous bat-chin.

Oooh! I like the idea of the chinpad! Thank you for the suggestion, I'll likely incorporate it next time I draw 63 Batman *u*
And thank you for the lovely comment!

Thank you! I have a couple more genderbent doodles of Superwoman and Batman but I'll likely not post them on dA. You can find them on the Rule 63 tag on my tumblr , though!

I have to ask though: why the idea of having Bat(wo)man having to hide her gender? I mean, wouldn't criminals fear her anyway if she didn't feel the need to, plus haven't there been female heroes who operate like Batman? Not that I disagree with your idea and (hopefully) not offending you, but I was just wondering....

That's an excellent question! And it's something I have to look inward to answer.
Batman is a symbol: of fear, of vigilance. Of punishment. In some senses, despite the name, Batman is sexless. Sex does not matter to Batman, only justice. But Batman (like Bruce Wayne) is concerned with appearances. To combat evil Batman must be overwhelming, a figure large enough to cast shadows even in the dark (pardon my purple prose). In this vein I feel like there is an inherent masculinity to the figure of Batman that should be maintained regardless of Batman's true gender.
Of course, I'm all for interpretations of a female Batman that does not hide her femininity. As a lady myself I love when female-bodied folk assume a position of power without explicitly making the female body sexual. But in the hyper-masculine and hyper-sexualized world of comics this is difficult to achieve (though certainly not impossible!)
To be very honest the reason I've chosen to have a female Batman conceal her gender and assume a male persona in costume is because I like the idea of a female Batman nonetheless identifying as a male. Not because of sex, necessarily, but because of the masculinity and the particular strength such masculinity provides. I like transgender characters so this would give me the opportunity to explore the concept of gender and gender identity in a world where being super manly is the norm for a superhero. Superwoman very firmly identifies as a woman and is happy to be identified as such, regardless of her perhaps 'unfeminine' body, but on the other hand Batman will prefer to keep matters of gender out of the equation of being a hero, because it should be irrelevant unless it gets in the way of dealing justice.
Anyway, that's what I'm thinking. Though again, I'm open to all interpretations of genderbent characters! This is simply one of many ways a female Batman could be handled (:
