Description I also drew a genderbent Superman. Though she doesn't hide her gender like Batman does, so I suppose she goes by Superwoman!

I've always been fond of ladies with muscles, and it bothers me that male-to-female genderbends are always "sexified" not just with poses but also with their costume. I did not want to do that for Superwoman, so I had her keep the costume as-is. (I have beef with the New 52 but I like the costume so I kept it. Sorry, traditional Superman fans!) She has above-average muscles thanks to the sun and her Kryptonian heritage.

Here's a bonus Claire Kent , who makes sure to use baggy clothing and hunch over so people think she's just a bumbling out-of-shape reporter. If only they looked a little closer, hehe!

Metropolis skyline borrowed from Eliot Brown .

No offence but this much muscle doesn't look good on a female, she almost reminds me of that Dead Rising 3 Boss

Hell it's kinda why I'd prefer this instead: (s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/o… )

The only difference in my opinion should be a leaner build, not necessarily out of sexism. but because Claire/Clara shouldn't look exactly like her male canon counterpart.

Why shouldn't she look like her male counterpart...? They are technically the same person. Clark has that heavy build because of genetics... it stands to reason that, given the same genes (excepting an extra X chromosome), Clark's build as a woman would still be leaning towards heavier set bones. Plus, given the fact that women's bodies tend to hold more fat despite being capable of building just as much muscle as a man, it gives a lady hero a bit more of a rounded shape. I also think that, growing up on a farm, Clara probably doesn't have the ingrained "skinny is beautiful" idea that a typical city girl would get exposed to over and over. Plus, I don't think Clark ever cared about his appearance very much? He certainly encouraged people to overlook him by dressing really sloppily at work. It stands to reason his female counterpart would employ similar tactics to go unnoticed or, at least, remain utterly plain and unremarkable.

Finally, while I understand that aesthetically Clara would be more beautiful to you, and perhaps more heroic, through a leaner figure, I kinda like the idea of a thicker set woman hero. If you want lean and muscle, I invite you to check out Wonder Woman

Aaaah, so I love your concepts of Brooke and Claire--I will always love a design for a Rule 63 that doesn't sexualize the characters because of their switched gender <3 after all, if it doesn't match their personality… why would they be wearing it?
It would make sense for Catwoman--but definitely not for Superman and Batman.Β
And, haha, agreed, so much beef with New 52… but damn I love some of those new costumes!

Despite my....personal ( ) feelings about this New-52-eqse costume, this genderbent Superman is awesomeΒ Β Β  Yeah, I know you feel about the more "sexualized" genderbents out there; it just leaves me wishing for more stuff like yours Β

Thank you! I'm glad you like my interpretation of a female Superman ;D

I might be getting myself in over my head, but I'd love to know what your thoughts are on the New 52 costume! I'm a pretty recent DC fan (in my brief history of reading American comics, I've been a marvel fangirl for years as opposed to a few weeks for DC), so I'm open to hearing why older fans are so aggrieved by the newer costume. I understand getting frustrated over the characterizations, but I'm curious to know why everyone seems so against Superman's new duds.

I don't know, I haven't really read much New 52 (aside from the first few issues of Nu!Action Comics), but I don't really agree with many of the decisions and ideas DC has been making. Also, Superman's old costume (red underwear on the outside and all) is a pretty iconic costume and his new costume is just....pretty meh to me, plus it doesn't make any sense (I mean, armor? Really? And the hell with the turtleneck?) So, overall, I think his old costume was unique (even if it was silly) and I just don't get that impression with his New 52 suit (as I'm sure others feel the same)

Heck, now that I think about it....maybe I should some more DC genderbents?
