Yeah, I'm probably one of the few people who preferred Megazard Y over X"But he's still 4x weak against Rock!"
Oh yeah, because Druddigon is 100% better than Garchomp because of the attribute of having no 4x weakness .-. (I like Druddigon, but still)

He has three spikes on his head, his wings become wider, two little extra ones on his arms, longer feet, smaller claws, and a slimmer body shape. How is he not that different other than his colors?

So? I'm a Dragon fan too, but that doesn't automatically get me like X more than Y

He may be a Groudon 0.5 but he is a better Drought user than Ninetales, and a lot of water type moves are special attacks. There's only like three commonly used physical ones so there isn't much of a worry. Besides, using a powered up Heat Wave is so satisfying to use in Double/Triple battles and he has Solarbeam

at the first place I like Charizard X more than Charizard Y (because it's Dragon-type and the Black Coloration and Blue Flames but now I find it over- designed) but then when I look at Y's design and stats, I think I find it more appealing more than X in my opinion and also it has better Shiny Coloration.

I've never been a fan of Charizard (I took Bulbasaur in my Red version and in Pokémon Y) but I prefer Mega Charizard Y over Mega Charizard X, it is still raped by Rock-type moves and Stealth rock but it's more effective competitively (even if the X one is can be somewhat more versatile) and it looks better in my opinion: it doesn't have these weird-ass spikes on the shoulders nor these strange shaped wings, and it is more elegant.

To be fair, 4x weaknesses are kind of a glaring handicap for Pokemon; that's why Charizard never saw any competetive use in Gen 5 and 4 was the abundance of Stealth Rock use, which pretty much halved Zard's health when used against him. Megazard X, as pandery as he looks, is a better competetive Pokemon because it loses the 4x Rock weakness in exchange for a few more 2x weaknesses, which is overall much better for it competetively.
And honestly, the whole hype about Megazard X being Dragon type is that it's finally realizing what everyone wanted of Charizard; to be a Dragon-type. Megazard X also has Tough Claws, which gives a 30% boost in power to any contact move; which, let's be honest, is a lot better off (since it makes some of Charizard's most powerful STAB-boosted physical moves all that more deadly) than Megazard Y's Drought, which can simply be replaced by a Primal Groudon's Desolate Land ability in higher tiers, and overall Megazard Y still has the crippling weakness to Stealth Rocks, while Megazard X is more versatile thanks to that loss of crippling weakness in exchange for some 2x weaknesses and a immunity.
And while both of them look great, I think everyone's inner 5-year old peed a little when they saw Megazard X for the first time. 
I prefer X over Y (because of the reasons I went over), but both are ridiculously awesome designs; one is just a bit better off in battle due to typing.

This stamp is old, and after having the chance to use Megazard X in my copy of Omega Ruby, I ended up liking it as much as Megazard Y XD

If only Drought was more useful...
Maybe if the Pokemon with the "Boost speed in the sun" abilities weren't weak to the very type it boosts...
If that were the case though, it would be banned in the 5th gen metagame, like Drizzle+Swift Swim.

I'm not SO fond with Mega X, in fact, I don't like it, but I'm much more into Mega Charizard Y. It stays true to it's original design and looks much cooler in my opinion.

I have nothing against X, but I wanted Sp. Atk over just regular Atk.
I wanted my opponents to BURN
However, I lucked out and got both megastones. I give the X one to a lv 100 shiny charizard I got through a wonder trade of all things. But I still have more fun with Y, especially when going up against fairies. BWAHAHAHAHAHA

Let alone he only knows a few good contact moves, with Flare Blitz and Outrage being very risky to use. He does have Dragon Dance, but Prankster Taunt users are popular in competitions
