There's a continuum of function in the hatching, with hatching that defines the form on the one end to hatching that defies the form on the other. That ends up being very expressive, giving the impression this subject is seething with angry inner conflicts.

Absolutely love the way vertical lines run across the form top-bottom, gives the portrait a more dramatic expression. Alongside folds on the forehead and half-closed eyes creates a feeling of tension. Well done.
P.S.> I think you should check your construction, especially the ear part. A little piece of advice - establish the big masses first, then proceed to refine. I get f@$ked up with it all the time myself. Good luck.
