From the Brookfield zoo.This shot shows a set of circumstances that can apparently exist in a indoor zoo habitat, but can't really happen out in the wild. The cypress tree behind the egret has orange needles, which fall off fairly quickly after they change colors in the fall. While the egret is a growing a green lore (the area between the beak and eye) , which herons grown in the spring mating season.

My first thought when seeing this photograph is, "Wow, that is one heck of a bird!".
The photo is very crisp and clear, leaving no detail in this elegant bird unseen. The way it is posed against the darker background is lovely, as it makes the bird's coloring (or perhaps lack thereof?) stand out all the more. The only thing I am truly left wishing is, that this bird didn't have such a cramped feeling to it! I would have preferred to have seen it stretched out a bit more, if that were at all possible.
