“Sasori-danna? What is love, un?”
The redhead looked up from oiling Hiruko’s joints to see his partner staring intently at him from his bed. “Why are you asking me this, Deidara?” he asked, slightly taken aback by the question.
Deidara shrugged. “Well, since you’re so old and all, un, I thought you’d know.”
Sighing, Sasori tapped his finger against his chin in thought. “I guess love is when truly care about someone, so much that you constantly think about them. So much that you’d die for them.” He tilted his head slightly. “But I’ve never really loved or been loved before, so I don’t know.”
The blond seemed to mull this over in his head, so Sasori bent back over Hiruko. Several moments later, however, he heard the faint creaking of bedsprings and the soft rustle of clothing. He was about to look up when he felt a hand on his chin, gently tilting his head up and to the side, and suddenly there was a pair of soft lips pressing against his own. Sasori sat there in stunned silence, unable to move or breathe or think as Deidara kissed him, softly and sweetly.
After what seemed like an eternity, the blond pulled away and offered Sasori a blushing smile. “I think I love you, then, un.” And with that he left a shocked Sasori and walked out of the room.
The redhead stared after him, his fingers ghosting over his lips. All he could hear was his own heart thudding against the solid wood of his chest and all he could feel were Deidara’s lips against his and all he could think of was Deidara…realization dawned on the puppet master and he smiled faintly at the door. “…love you too,” he whispered.
