Have you ever felt hopeless?
I hate... hate the Depths... maybe more than I hated Sen's Fortress... I hate rats. I hate basilisks... I hated everything about that area... UGH.
[Thankfully I've only ever been cursed ONCE - I don't intend on being cursed ever again!]

Ehh... I don't have to because I beat the game YEEEARSSS ago?
[many seem to think that the comic reflects exactly where I am in the game. Keep in mind this comic strip was drawn back in 2011...]

Besides, Seath is a pushover... heh.

Really, I got curse twice, one in the great hollow(In the depth, I laugh at the Basilisk cause I one-shot them with the heavy soul arrow) and by Seath and yeah... He can curse you.

It makes your curse resist 2-4 times as good. Combined with the bloodshield, you will soon laugh at curses. Fair warning, though, cursebite is about 10k.

Lol love this one, same thing happened to me, err kinda. First time I went there I killed a bunch of them pretty easily, not knowing what happens when you get cursed, I got careless and was cursed. Never again would I underestimate those ugly frog things. Haha. Love the layout of this, very well done.

This is awesome! I'm so happy I came across your dark souls comics. So far, i hate the depths the most. The feeling of being underground with no sun in a labyrinth invested with curse lizards, poison rats and stealth slimes was the worst. Wat is your soul level and stats? the new patch gave dex a huge damage bonus so curse lizards are cake with bow of pharsis. Also, since you are not so much into PvP u should consider first joining the chaos servants to get the pyromancy and open the shortcut to lost izalith (for the demon titanite farming and sunlight maggots) and then speak to oswald and to abandon it later. Afterwards, if you like helping in bossfights join the sun bros, as it is a good way to level up very fast especially the anor londo boss which gives you 25k souls for helping. Which helps quelana upgrade your flame to 20. OH! and you should DEFINATELY go back to asylum and fight the boss since is drops an extremely rare ore. Good luck with the rest of your game and may the sun be with you. Praise the Sun!

Hehe, the time between this illustration and my current game is very off. I'm currently soul level 55, and I have no clue what my stats are... mainly in INT, STR, and ATU!
I have been dabbling with the idea of the Chaos Servants, mainly for that delicious Toxic Cloud. Yumyum!
Yes, Praise the Sun!

khmer-shinobi In reply to karniz [2011-12-02 01:42:54 +0000 UTC]

Unfortunately, the weapons scaling for str stat is not that great compared to the weapons scaling for dex stat (especially with patch 1.05 which buffs B>A on dex weapons) so you can practically use any weapon. My recommendation would be to use a weapon that gives a high parameter bonus in int (B or A bonus) instead. I have never used moonlight greatsword but you can try it; or better yet, consider upgrading normal weapon => magic => enchanted via andre of astora the blacksmith...Actually, what type of weapons do you prefer? i find myself playing with curved swords/daggers/spears/bow more than anything else. Since you are mostly playing solo, a greatsword wouldn't be that bad of a choice either.

Also, if you want the toxic cloud, you have to have an egg-head and then buy it. But i dont think you can revert your head back to normal afters(even if consuming egg vermifuge). The Chaos fireball is totally worth it though.

Have you considered miracles? What you can do is join the gravelord clan and get the gravelord sword dance which does not require any specific level of faith and use velka's talisman since its the only talisman to scale with intelligence and not faith.

Good luck. PRAISE THE SUN!

I haven't gotten cursed... yet...

I actually managed to fight through all hell and despair that is the Depths rather well...

Until I meet that goshdarn Mouth Dragon. First I saw his head (hmm, giant Alligator, reminds me of RE2) then the upper body appears (OH F*** Screw that, it's freaking William Birkin!) and THEN (OH F*** OH F*** OH F*** OH F***~) I died. XD

Still, I owe it all thanks to the Dragon Sword. ^___^

...

And Solaire (Not Monty Python King Arthur) of Astoria... (JOLLY CO-OPERATION)

What does the Pendant do!? Tell me!

Nah, J/K. Love your Dark Souls comics. Absolutely hilarious and I can relate to some of it. But I love the Depths and I love fighting the Gaping Dragon. By far the easiest area for me.

hehe, Thankies!
It's funny tho - a lot of people hated Blight Town, but I felt it was my strongest area. Not counting my endless "ohmygodohmygodohmygodohmygodohmygod" when in the mosquito area... heh.

Digital-Ashes In reply to karniz [2011-11-29 05:59:37 +0000 UTC]

I have Paladin armour so I have a high resist to the swamp and bugs. Blighttown is not a problem. The area that I loathe the most, though, is Anor Londo. I am literally surprised that I haven't destroyed something within my reach or smashed my controller. It. Was. Hell. I hated it. The enemy layouts, the boss, and the constant invasions. Talk about despair.

Afraid of the penalties of abandoning a covenant?
You can just got to that priest guy at bell tower, you simply choose the abandon covenant option he offers and then your free to choose another covenant without suffering the penalties.

karniz In reply to scigz17 [2011-11-23 21:19:52 +0000 UTC]

hehe, no, I actually haven't decided yet which covenant I want to be in. I'm not very PVP-based, so I see no benefits from the others.
I think I'm going to try out the Sun Bros. covenant. I like Soltaire. ^^

karniz In reply to scigz17 [2011-11-24 16:36:49 +0000 UTC]

Not that I know of - you get a reduced Faith-req by helping others fight off bosses, I believe it's 50 Faith to use the Sunspear.
