Pallidmane belongs to a mystical race of satyr-like entities known as the Pon. The Pon are physical manifestations of the planet Tethys' will, or, to put it simply, avatars of the planet's consciousness used to directly partake in the lives of its inhabitants for the sake of a safe future. How many Pon exist is an utter mystery. Two are known for certain to exist: Pallidmane and Dimguise. But there are rumors of dozens, if not hundreds more, hiding in the dark corners of the world.

Pons are said to have two remarkable abilities. The first: due to the absence of a mouth, they are able to bend the laws of nature around them to create a voice that carries on the wind. The second: because they are the planet itself, they can recall any point of its history, at any time, through any perspective, as clearly as if they witnessed it themselves.

Pallidmane eventually becomes Rhea's guiding hand in a world at war, revealing important truths and sparking events that lead her to a bitter-sweet destiny.
