The next part of the Blizzard roleplay between Dru and Nico
it's really long oops
Part One
Part Two
It took me several moments as I blinked and got a bearing of my surroundings, confused as to what I was doing here and why. When it all rushed back to me I stifled a small gasp and clambered to my paws, shaking my coat out vigorously and padding over to the nearest window, peaking out of it. My eyes widened at the site--everything was white! This made my tail wag quite vigorously as I scampered too the doors in a hurry, nudging and pushing them over in a puppy like excitement.
Nico's P.O.V
I opened my eyes as I was still sleepy. I heard the sound of paws and door opening. My ears perked up as I quickly woke up and looked around, thinking that it may be an intruder but then I saw Dru playing in the snow outside. I chuckled at how happy she is as I stepped out of the barn.
"Morning Dru!" I gretted her as my tail wagged.
When I first set paws into the alabaster substance--others called it snow--I let out a delighted gasp and giggled, plunging into it muzzle first, rolling onto my back and wiggling my chilling body about. When Nico's voice registered I flipped over and grinned, "Good morning!" I barked in reply, discreetly ignoring their conversation bits last night, I decided, was the best thing to do, and proved as much when I scrambled onto my paws and shook the snow off with a laugh, "Get a load of this stuff, it's so cold!"
Nico’s P.O.V
I smiled as I saw Dru playing in the snow happily. I sat down as I wagged my tail slightly "I am good, it's too cold for me" I said as I shiver a bit when the cold breeze brushes against me. I looked at the thick snow covering the whole ground, the sun is high in the sky and the whole scenery is white from all the snow. "Hey Dru let's get us some food and head back, what do ya say?" I wagged my tail at the thought of getting some food.
< Dru's POV >
Sobering up to their current situation, I gave a sheepish nod and trotted over towards him, waving my tail about wildly, “Food sounds amazing—and home, of course.” I replied breezily, shuffling my paws in the snow—what a weird thing, snow was. With almost the same appearance as, say, sand, it was definitely cold, especially if one was in it too long, “We should probably get home, and we can hunt and bring something back along the way, what do you say?!” I suggested cheerily, circling him with an energetic buzz, sniffing about, despite most everything smelling of this snow, the barn and its contents, and Nico of course.
Nico’s P.O.V
I trashed the snow around with every step I take, it sure is cold though Dru seems so happy with this all this cold snow as she pranced arouns happily. "Yeah sure, how about we go to the forest and hunt down some of those delicious deers?" I said a I licked my lips at the thought of having a deer as a meal.
< Dru's POV >
I stopped briefly in my trotting about and tilted my head in thought; deers were pretty big for the two of them to take on by themselves..but… if they could manage to snag any that were even out and about, it’d benefit the pack quite a bit. I nodded slowly, “That sounds like a good idea—but if we can’t find one, we should look for smaller prey that might still be out, yeah?” I replied eagerly, sweeping my gaze across our alabaster surroundings.
Nico's P.O.V
"Hmm? Of course" I wagged my tail excitedly for our hunt. We make our way across the snow covered field and into the forest. The sun is high in the sky and the snow has stopped falling. The forest trees and grass are covered in snow making it look like a white forest. Small critters can be seen around doimg what they are doing, as I walked past them not interested in small preys.
"Let's start tracking for a deer now, shall we?" I wagged my tail slightly as I smiled at Dru. I began digging my nose into the snow as I try to find any scent of a deer or maybe a herd of it.
With an excited hum I pranced on behind him as we delved into the depths of the alabaster forest. There was some activity amongst the underbrush, much more than I would expect this time of year, but nonetheless I followed suite, only instead of sticking my nose to the ground I’d go behind him and look for anything noticeably left behind by our prey of choice. I’d recalled my human telling me to look for these things when I was searching for my toys, so I took it to heart, checking trees and bushes for any pawprints, pieces of fur-anything. I couldn’t find much of anything that could help me though, so I turned my muzzle in Nico’s direction with a frown, “I’m not getting anything.. are you?” I spoke softly so as not to disturb anything nearby.
Nico's P.O.V
I stopped for a second as I caught a familiar scent. I wagged my tail as I lifted my head up, my nose is cold from being kept in the ice for a long time. I looked at Dru with a smile "I found our meal" I then began following the scent and signalling Dru to follow me. I followed the scent and stopped behind some bushes as I crouched down. There, not from from where we are stood a tasty looking doe, eating away at the grass that it dig from the snow.
From the wag in his tail and his excited posture as he lifted his muzzle and turned his head, I knew before he’d spoken the words that he found something. I wagged my tail in turn and trotted over to him, following close behind and trying to stay quiet, lowering my frame to keep from making them anymore obvious in this alabaster snow. Settling down behind the underbrush, I peeked into the leaves curiously at his find and gasped quietly, looking over to him with surprise, “How are we going to catch that? There’s only two of us!”
Nico’s P.O.V
"Umm.." I scanned the area to see if there's any other deer with it. "Since it's alone, we can just surround it and attack from both sides" I wagged my tail slowly at the thought of an exciting snow hunt. "I'll take the right side" I smiled at her, my eyes shining in excitment as I began crawling to the right side of the bushes, ready in my position as I aimed at my target.
Perking my ears curiously to his words, I turned my bicolored gaze back onto the lone animal, wondering somewhere in the back of my mind if it tasted good… I shook my head vigorously and huffed, “Alright, sounds like a plan—I’ll run it towards you, and you’ll..,” I murmured, pausing while I was keeping an eye on the creature on the otherside of the underbrush. “attack it?” I looked over at him in question, watching as the soft sounds of Nico heading off to his position I took that as a signal and went the other way, circling the oblivious doe with my hindquarters brought low, preparing to lunge.
Nico’s P.O.V
I keep my eyes on the defenseless doe as I lay down slowly behind the bushes, ready to attack. I looked at Dru who was on the other side of the bushes, 'she looks ready' I thought as I gave her a nod, signalling to begin the hunt.
< Dru's POV>
Given the signal I immediately pushed off of the terrain and bolted forward and out of the underbrush, my lips curled in a snarl. Putting in every ounce of ferocity I wielded I aimed to snap at the hindquarters of this animal, corralling it towards where Nico would be in the hopes that he’d come out and finish the job. The fur along my spine lifted with anticipation as the blood roared in my ears—this would be my first hunt for something this big, actually accomplishing it would be quite the feat.
Nico’s P.O.V
My whole body tensed as the doe that Dru is herding come nearer and nearer towards me. I kept my eyes on the prey and waited the right moment to jump out. I noticed that the doe is almost the same size as Dru, I licked my lips in anticipation as I imagined how tasty it'll taste with a size that big. When the doe is right infront of me, I quickly jumped out of my hiding and bared my fangs wide as I then sinked my fangs on the tender and soft throat of the doe. As fast as I get a tight grip on it's throat, I dragged it down towards the ground. I growled low as I suffocates the poor doe, trying to cruah it's windpipe. The doe trashed around in desperation as I keep my eyes on it's leg as not to get kicked while I finish my job. After a short moment, the doe then become limp as it's soul has already left his body. I let go of my grip as I watched our prey, panting with a thriumpant look on my face. "We did it, Dru!" my tail wagged excitedly as I looked at her with a happy face.
As I ushered the frightened animal towards Nico, I could see him coming out of the bushes and latching onto the lass, pulling her to the hard, frozen ground, attempting to choke the life out of her. I felt bad at first, as I tried to hold it down as best I could without getting hit by those flying hooves, but as Nico pulled away from the corpse and smiled, that dissipated and I smiled back, just as happy to have caught something so large and rare to see in this area. I’d seen these creatures on the colorful boxes humans watch, but they were never in the city—mostly in groups, to have caught one brought a sense of overwhelming joy and pride of such an accomplishment. I walked over to stand beside Nico and looked down at their catch, my tail wagging vigorously, “We did it!” I squeaked, looking at him with puppyish excitement. “But—how are we going to get it home?”
Nico’s P.O.V
"Umm" I looked at the doe and thought for a moment before coming up with an idea. "I could carry it on my back, it's probably not too heavy" I suggested as I looked at the size of the doe, it's probably lighter than Dru. I then crouched down beside our prey in attempt to load it on my back "Help me put him on my back?"
I perked my ears and listened curiously, taking in the view of the deer carcass and then moving to look at Nico, “Are you sure? Maybe we could carry it together, or drag it back…,” I mumbled, squinting at it, “You might hurt yourself carrying that thing by yourself.” Turning my attention to their current situation and how we’d be able to deal with it, I trotted around the deer, looking it over.
Nico’s P.O.V
"Yeah I am strong enough to carry it back" I smiled to her, trying to convince her. "We can carry it back together if you want but will you be okay? I am afraid you'll hurt yourself instead" I looked at her with a worried expression drawn on my face, I definietly don't want her to hurt herself or force herself just for me. "I don't want to see you getting hurt afterall, since you're precious to me" I looked at her with innocent intentions in my eyes. The sun is high in the sky and is melting away the snow, warming the air as the sun's rays pierched through the forest trees' lighting it up.
I narrowed my eyes and huffed, lifting my snout, “I am perfectly capable of carrying that with you,” I grumbled playfully before turning to look at him with a cheeky grin. “Let’s do it together and share the load, I’ll be fine. This’ll be easy peasy. Totally.” I swiveled my ears towards him as I listened for his reply, and turned my head at it, unsure of how to take that but I shrugged it off and wagged my tail instead, “Come one, while the weather isn’t completely freezing. I bet everyone will be super happy that we caught something this big. It’ll feed everyone! Not to mention the scarf will help keep someone warm at least.”
Nico’s P.O.V
"Okay then just try not to get behind" I said to her in a playful tone. I get under the doe corpse and lifted it up while leaving the lower part of him for Dru to carry. "You're right, though they must be worried since we've been gone for 2 days" I sighed and continued "I hope Boss won't yell at me again for sneaking out." I huffed but then thought about it and chuckled.
I gave a huff and followed pursuit, getting beneath the animal and heaving it up in attempts to help ease the weight off of Nico’s shoulders, “You won’t have to worry about that,” I said, rolling my eyes and giving another wag of my tail at his next phrase, “Well that’s your fault, I’m just the innocent bystander, trying to help my pack.” I gave a quiet snicker at that, “Anyway come on, let’s go. The quicker we get home, the faster we can get this thing off!”
Nico’s P.O.V
After a long trip we finally made it back to the base camp. We were greeted by the guards with all the questions of where we've been. We then unloaded our catch in the stock room as I then stretched and feel lighter with the doe off my back. I brushed off the snow clingimg on my fur as I let out a sigh of relief. "We're finally home" I smiled as I looked around, seems like the other pack members are finished with the preparation for the blizzar as it has quite down.
With sore paws I went with Nico as we arrived home, grateful for the sight of the hideout and a place to unload our catch. I would give a nod politely to the guards, letting Nico do the talking before we set off to set the corpse down in the stock room. Once I’d gotten it off my back, I shook my tired frame vigorously and yawned, “Eeee-yup,” I mumbled, squinting around at the place, “I hope I don’t have to do that again, as fun as it was,” I continued, sitting down slowly to rest my paws. "Do you think we missed anything?"
Nico’s P.O.V
I nodded in agreement to her, as fun as it was it's quite dangerous afterall. "Hmm I don't think so" I looked around and then noticed about the scarf "Oh! We gotta gave this scarf to the pups." I wagged my tail, excited to see the pups. "Come on!" I make my way to the room where the pups and Madison are as I then peeked through the crack of the door to see if they're inside. Then I saw them, covered in blankets and scarfs that probably the other members brought for them. "Seems like we're a bit late." I chuckled.
Perking my ears to his exclaiming tone, I turned my muzzle towards him curiously, watching him looking down at the scarf, “Oh, right the pups,” I repeated, rising from my sitting position with a wagging tail. I followed him eagerly but carefully, peeking behind the door with him to gaze on the small tykes. “Maybe just a little, but another scarf can’t hurt y’know,” I murmured quietly, not wanting to disrupt the family, “and I’m sure Miss Madison would appreciate it.” I smiled softly as the wagging continued.
Nico’s P.O.V
"You're right" I smiled at her as I take off the scarf off my neck and then gave the door a nudge to open it as Madison looked at us. She gave us permission to enter as we then present the scarf infront of her. She smiled as she took the scarf and thanked us. The pups gathered before us and one of them started nipping playfully at me. I gave the pup a little nudge as I told her "You're still 100 years too fast to beat me." I said in a joking way as I then chuckled at the pup's suprised reaction.
I watched him quietly as he took off the scarf and slipped into the room after given permission by the mother. I followed more slowly, uncertain of how to deal with the situation, never being around any pups or a mother other than my own mother, and siblings. I gave the door a little nudge to close it before sitting down by him and giving a polite smile, looking among the smaller, energetic bodies of puppy. My smile widened at Nico’s comment and I looked at him, and then to the puppy he was talking too, shaking my head.
Nico’s P.O.V
We spent some time playing with the pups, I looked at Dru being clueless with how to deal with the pups as I helped her out everytime the pups bombarded her. Then, we leave the room as to not disturb Madison and her pups any longer. I gave the door a nudge to close it before I looked at Dru "First time with pups?" I chuckled.
When the focus of the pups would shift from him to me, I’d smile as politely as I could with any squeaks or yips of surprise and backing away, forcing myself to stay beside him as he helped me. I was grateful when we departed and closed the door behind us, letting me breathe, “Yes, if you don’t count the litter I was born into, which I don’t.” I smiled briefly and laughed, “Is it that obvious?”
Nico’s P.O.V
I thinked for a second before shifting my eyes from the ceililing to Dru "I don't think so, but I just know." I gave her a confused look. "Let's just say it's my instinct." I laughed playfully. I stretched my body as I looked at Dru "Maybe we should get some rest, it's been a long journey for us." I chuckled a little.
I raised a brow curiously and smiled slowly, shaking my head, “Alrighty then, if you say so,” I mumbled playfully, followed by a large part of my jaws and then them snapping shut in a yawn. Turning my gaze back onto him as he spoke I nodded in slow agreement, “Yeah, sleep sounds nice right about now.” I paused, furrowing my brow before continuing, “Thanks for coming with me to the city, I appreciate it.”
Nico’s P.O.V
"No problem, it's actually really fun." I wagged my tail slightly and smiled at her with drowsy eyes. "We should do it again next time." I added before I begin walking to find a place to rest "Well then now, have a good rest." I yawned and smiled one more time at her, then I made my way to the resting room.
-End on Nico's part-
I made a soft “pfff” sound and shook my head again, a smile forming on my maw as I swiveled my ears forward, “Sure, that’d be cool, I think.” I paused as I watched him walk off, giving a “You too,” as a response to his phrase before heading outside in search of a place to sleep.
