Is using lady bug cadavers for fertilizer common in gardening?

they're small but love to eat other bugs, the blood on their shells is actually the blood of their prey

A likely story. Or do you mean the blood of their enemies contributes to their red complexion via ingestion?

Actually ladybugs are the natural predators of some kind of plant parasite, so people use them as a natural "pesticide"

About twenty years back now, we had a plant in the garden that was so catastrophically infested with greenfly ("aphids" to the rest of the world) that we'd basically written it off. Then for just one day, the entire plant turned red - several thousand ladybirds congregated on this one plant, picked the thing completely clean, then flew off.

They may not look like it, but ladybugs sure are cunning predators aha x)

Thanks!
I used to reaaaally like ladybugs (and bugs in general), so I would catch them as a kid and keep them in a bug cage. Though I stopped keeping them for too long pretty quickly, since the bugs I caught mostly starved (I thought back then that they ate leaves like caterpillars >_>", leading to researches on ladybugs).
Still love them now though!
