R4-P3RK1 was one of numerous custom dome-headed R4 units owned by the Jedi Order. P3 was assigned to Qui-Gon Jinn as the astro-droid for his Delta-7B starfighter. Because she was often seen along side, Master Qui-Gon while on missions with his Padawan, Anakin Skywalker. Young Skywalker was amused by P3's perky, eager-to-please personality and her nearly incessant string of suggestions and ideas. Thus, he nicknamed her "Perky". Though Skywalker, and the clone troopers took to calling her "Perky", Qui-Gon stubbornly continued to call her "P3". Perky does whatever she can to help her master, and anyone else she can. However, she is quite fond of Qui-Gon Jinn, almost to the point of being called infatuated. She quickly learned when she could offer suggestions and ideas to him, and when she should keep silent. However, Qui-Gon is the only person she affords this courtesy. With all others, Perky offers an endless string of unsolicited ideas, opinions, and suggestions. She is quite helpful and when not required in the droid socket of Qui-Gon's starfighter, Perky can be found in the hangar offering to help the ground crew and her fellow droids in repairing and maintaining the ships and vehicles of the Jedi Order and their Clone Troopers. When Order-66 was given, Perky was among the droids the Jedi Order took with them to Ossus. On Ossus, Perky became Qui-Gon's personal assistant.
