Ranma Saotome is the son of the late Jedi Masters Genma and Nodoka Saotome. He, his sister Ranko, and their friend Ryouga Hibiki grew up aboard his father's starship, the modified YT-1300 freighter Jusenkyo Princess. His parents had born children against the Jedi Order's wishes. They escaped the Jedi Purge by quickly selling their home and possessions, and purchasing a used stock light freighter. They took their children, and the force sensitive young son of a family friend, and disappeared into the sub-culture of freight haulers. Over the next twenty years, they raised the children and taught them the ways of the Jedi. After Genma and Nodoka Saotome were killed by the Empire, Ranma, Ranko, and Ryouga soon found their way to Ossuss, where the Jedi Order had hidden from the Empire to plan a way to overthrow the Sith controlled Empire.

Ranma is now the captain of the Jusenkyo Princess. He, Ranko, and Ryouga travel the galaxy posing as smugglers and freight haulers, but their true purpose is to carry out secret missions for the Jedi Order, sometimes seeking lost Jedi artifacts, and sometimes to find lost Jedi, like Ranma's new padawan, Akane Tendo.

Ranma tries to be wise and knowledgeable, like his idol, Grand Master Yoda. However, he struggles with anger. He is a man of action, and often solves problems with his lightsaber. However, trying to be the Jedi Master of his little smuggler crew he takes a great deal of trouble to think matters through as often as he can, having learned that not every problem could be solved through violence.

(I made this image based on an old Ranma 1/2 - Star Wars cross over fan fic I wrote some years ago, but have since lost all copies of that story. I may rewrite it one day, but here is a small hint at what it was about) (at least my concept of one of the characters)
