I actually just look through your gallery and found this and thought it would be better for what I need.

No, actually I took that on a good day- the very day after taking that picture they covered even more entirely... I wouldn't dare even pose for a picture with those.

Yes, I've stopped for the most part- since last week, actually. But I'm also having some new problems suffering from meds... I'm not addicted per se... but I do take Adderall every once in a while.

:/ I'm so sorry to hear about your problems!
Are you getting help from a therapist or something? Does your friends help you? How is everything coming along? I'm glad to hear that it's on the right track though! <3

Yeah, I was in therapy... but whenever I made known my problems there, the more "serious" ones went back to my parents and them knowing is really the last thing I need. I know I sound like everyone else when I say they don't get it- but they don't. They want to ship me off to some boarding school.

It's my way of coping, really. When I don't do this, I get caught on meds. So I'll take this.

Not sure what you are really trying to draw attention to. The starfish and/or dress or your arms..Serious question and no I'm not bashing just curious

I think that this speaks volumes, it really stands out amongst anything else. The marks on your arms, contrasting with the almost innocent way you're holding the starfish. I think it speaks so much for hope and innocence. I love this, very well done.

this is the saddest picture I've ever seen. It makes me want to cry
Also, it's very beautiful.
But mostly sad.

And who are you to tell me what art is? Art is anything. If this is my idea of art, let it be. A critique is nice, sure, but going out and bashing someone's work just because of one aspect isn't the best way to go. It is a conceptual photograph and if it's just too much for you to handle, you don't have to look.

excuse me for saying self injury is a bad concept for art, but i never said it was too much for me. i only ask that you think about what you may to more innocent or youthful people who have considered self-harm. this image is a trigger and can very easily result in the destruction of another person. i wouldn't say anything had it not been for my concern.

i thought i'd interject here--
you see i carry scars like this-- much larger, and much older-- they're all mostly white and gray now. but they're very obvious, show up in a lot of my photography, and every new person i meet has to ask me about them; so, i get the business routinely.
the point is, you can't walk around with a disclaimer on your forehead apologizing for everyone under the age of 18 who looks at you. and you can't edit every photo that your forearms are in, and her scars happen to be a part of this lovely photo. that's just what it is, not an advertisement or glamorization of self harm.
so the next time you want to point out something everyone present is already tensely aware of like cutting scars, as if you're the only one who is noticing, consider the following: the person you're talking to already has to deal with peoples' opinions-- even silent ones-- every single day.
but also yes, you could say that much is just penance for self harm.
i didn't wanna come off rude or too confrontational with this, i just think it's... a good thing to have in print for people to see.
