Ya know, i could just picture a creature like this in one of the metroid games. It just seem like the world for him. Maybe he'd be a mini boss or something.

I truly adore all your creatures! They remind me of things I draw, though MUCH more often on paper than digital, as I am way out of practice on digital. I really wish my scanner worked!

Really nice design!
I love how you combined arthropod features into birdlike shape!
One thing I would change are the claws on hind legs, they do not look like they could support creature's weight.

Thanks. I'm not really worried about the feet, considering how small hooves on large herbivorous creatures can be. Aside from that, I don't think this guy would be big enough for it to be an issue.

You'r right about that, large herbivores do have relatively small feet, but they use all four legs for locomotion. If "Arthropodish" here uses its mantis-like front legs, it would move quite good. It would look a little awkward in motion, on all four, though, creepy, like some sort of insect-bat. Abdominal segments are good support for attacking stances, which is pretty good design.
BTW your creature designs are superb! As a biologist, I salute you for such extraodinary knowledge of anatomy!

It's not like it's an insult. Blizzard entertainment most likely spent lots of time and money to come up with a design with that kind of quality and those features.

Believe me, it can be insulting to the artist. I don't know about this artist in particular, but I have known of many a person who gets irritated by a comment like "It looks like this other thing" and not even an "it's cool" or "good job" thrown in. Just "looks like other thing" end statement.

This :[link] is a Zergling. Personally, I really like your design. And for the record, for anyone who cares, I am not accusing you of ripping off a Zergling. They are obviously different in several areas.

Haha, no I didn't think that. That's funny though, looks like someone took a raptor and threw a bunch of random spikes into the mix.

KatePfeilschiefter In reply to Artipod [2012-10-28 01:22:26 +0000 UTC]
In a perfect world, he'd be ostrich sized. But as our puny earth environment can no longer support such large insects, he'd probably be comparable to a large scorpion, lobster or mantis.
