Japanese dragon for my "dragons across cultures" project.I think I prefer Japp dragons to Chinese, they tend to look crazier.
The main difference between different oriental dragons is the number of toes/claws they have. Japanese have precisely three. Any more or less than that and it's not Japanese.

Sorry, I don't know of any specifically pertaining to Japanese dragons. I just research mythology around the interwebs. There's a general dragon book I can recommend though, "Dragons: A Natural History" by Karl P. N. Shuker.
