Description

Franceza was not one of the "Class" mermaids, but appeared as a side character in Akiko the Monk's story. Franceza was taken as a child from the shores of the Golden Sea by slavers, subjected to a life of hardship and misery. Her captors, fearing her Boermerzh (a human capable of wielding the Hud, or cast magic) nature, had her tongue ripped out. At the end of her life, Franceza was almost ballast, sold to a galley heading Northwards for what would have been her final voyage. Together with her unlikely friend Akiko, Franceza did not perish when the ship was destroyed in a powerful storm, but was rescued, reborn as a Marie-Morgane for another shot at the life that was robbed from her. Franceza now lives on the Garden Hill in Ys-Beneath-the-Waves, helping out at Akiko's tea shop.

I decided to rework Franceza pretty heavily. I've only drawn Franceza once before, and was never quite happy with the results.
