Description
After much waffling, I decided to make a calendar again this year on Redbubble! I picked some of my favorite art that wasn't used in the 2014 calendar that fit in this format, and put it together tonight. This year there are more pin-up type pieces in there, and even a few Alecani! They are A3 (297 x 420mm / 11.7” x 16.5”), spiral bound with wire, and printed on 200gsm satin art paper with a thicker cover. Hey, there I was wondering something.
Are we Artists allowed to sell all of our arts for example, as calendars, prints, mugs, etc, even if the characters on the pictures belong to someone else and even if it was a commissioned picture, as long as it's our art? or do we need to ask them permission first, and give them a percentage of what we'd manage to sell?
it'd be interesting to know!

This question was asked on my recent print submission as well! Here's the answer I gave there, if it helps.
When an artist takes a commission, the rights to the resulting art automatically remain with the artist by law unless otherwise agreed on. For non commercial commissions like the vast majority of my work, folks are paying for my time and the resulting high resolution file for personal use, not the rights. Which means, I retain the right to sell prints and distribute as I see fit! l outline this in my terms of service as well, because unfortunately the misconception that a client automatically owns the rights to commissioned art is very common.
Even many artist believe this because they mistake the term 'work for hire' to mean any thing someone pays them to create. When in fact that term is a specific legal term that indicates full right transference of a commission. Which again, only applies if both parties agree to that term for their transaction.

What when it's about trades?
I wanted to try selling one of my piece for prints: Warm Coffee Cup
to try, like posters, etc, but the character isn't mine, so can I still try to sell prints of it? people wouldn't be buying the OC, just the art to decorate their rooms for example, etc. So I wonder, I'm very new to this!

Trades too! Unless otherwise agreed upon, ALL of your art is YOURS automatically. Copyright applies to the expression of the idea, not the idea itself. A character is the idea, but your drawing of the character is the expression of the idea.
