Finished commission for Kimburr, for whom I have done two portraits of her lovely golden tiger named Lobster. Now a full body piece, and a fun concept to boot! I loved the challenge of painting the wet fur vs the more dry fur, and painting big gushy cartoony water streams coming from her. This one was a real treat, hope to be able to do more paintings with water in them!13 hours in Photoshop CS6 with an Intuos 3 tablet

The colors, the tones, the eyes, the minimalist approach to the coat and the stripes! The lines are just so perfectly blurred. What I found most astounding was how well you managed to capture this wide-eyed hope and happiness with the eyes and the mouth, almost like a smile. I can't tell if this was supposed to be a tigress or not, but there's something perfectly sunny and elegant about this cat. Almost reminds me of Rain from Spirit.

it's funny, because i remember this tiger from 'radiant warmth' and the juxtaposition of sitting there all warm and snuggly, then suddenly SPLOOSH! ... is just funny : X

This piece caught my eye because it looks like a Golden Tiger (or Golden Tabby/Strawberry Tiger) They're my favorite cat since they have the most beautiful fur Ive ever seen.

Golden is the technical names, only bad sources call them strawberry. They're inbred, but hopefully one day they can make them genetically without breeding them to be inbred.

Yeah, It sucks that their endangered to the point that they have to inbreed. And I don't really mind calling it strawberry tiger. When I first saw it, the coat briefly gave me an impression of a soft light pastry.

Thing is, they're only bred by unreputable places anymore as the AZA bans them in the US.
They don't survive in the wild, do there's no real conversational value. You're saving something that doesn't exist in the wild, it seems weird.

Didn't know that. But I read in an endangered animals article that they where natural but rare, because they only occurred in areas with high clay concentrations in the soil.

They do occur as a genetic change in their coat color DNA, but it exceedingly rare. When we consider that this is a very low chancce, then made even worse by how there are less tigers in the wild than privately owned alone, it's no longer really recorded to appear.
They don't occur in community in the wild because they die out in forms of natural selection, because of their coloration hunting would be hard. They are also often abandoned by their mothers.
