I hate when that happens. but like ImAFutureGuitarHero says, you can just click edit & change the display options.
as far as i'm aware, I change it to 1920 pixels wide & if I leave it a few minutes before uploading (usually when I put in the description), then the picture for no reason only goes in as 1280 pixels wide which pisses me off.

whaa you mean waiting too long makes it get smaller?
I try to take it slow, so the app can realize how big the picture is (at least that's what I thought would happen lol)

You shouldn't need to reupload the picture to fix the resolution. You would go to the top right of the deviation to Edit, then under the image should be "Display Options" and you can change the resolution there. Usually DeviantArt resets the size to 1280 pixels wide or so, even if I use 1600 or 1920, so I usually have to go in there and change it again to make it show properly.
