*portfolio bulking madness!*I really like this one.. I haven't done a proper grayscale digital painting..in...oh, never?

I'm going to try doing a bunch of realistic animal portraits.. hope you'll all like them, and don't mind the break from cartoony stuffs.
Painted with adobe photoshop cs & wacom tablet
time spent: about 5 hours all together

On my computer it's showing this lighter spot to the left of its face (our left, not its left). Otherwise it's truly an awesome portrait.

holy crap.. i thought this was a photo. great job : ). so is this completely greyscale, or did you use some of your purple depth secrets? here's a question, can you use purple on other colors than blue? like if you were coloring a brown furry creature, or a yellow scaley creature, do you still use purple to add shadow?

I used grey, brown, green and purple for this..
umm, generally you can use purple for everything, but I don't shade yellow things too often come to think of it.. I dunno, you'll just have to try

love the picture... all I would do is sharpen the eyes... its kinda fuzzy and hard to see.. plus, maybe add some single lines to give it some shape ^^... like highlights or something! Just a few, and it should him out a lot more from the background!
