You know when I first heard this song ( "Let Me Be Your Armor" by Assemblage 23) it thought it was mostly very romantic. Now I can really see how it can describe a wide variety of relationships.
I'm really happy with how this came out. It was sorta an experiment because I had no idea how to color this at first. I wasn't expecting this but I am pleasantly surprised, because it's kinda different looking than usual. Different colors and such. And I used cel-style shading for a change... normally I dislike it for it's very unforgiving harsh treatment of the curves of the human body, but it worked here for my purposes.
I'm sure you get the idea already. Same kind of idea as "Salva Nos" only with Rhys as the active element instead of the passive. Rhys would do anything to protect his little sister. He's very childish about his world view of good and evil, and has a problem with denying the agency of others because he thinks his love can solve problems. Rhys is also very religious, and the religion of his people (Eydnan people - more on them later) dictates strongly about a dualistic universe.
This of course changes in his course over my story. Which BTW still doesn't have a satisfactory name... one day it will!!!
Solais is supposed to look kinda chagrined, and maybe a little embarrassed for him... like "Rhys why are you hugging me naked

This is very beautiful; I really like your style of cel shading. I think it works well because there are so many layers to your shading--it effectively adds depth that is usually lacking in a lot of cel shaded pieces.
I find it interesting that Rhys is naked ... usually nudity is symbolic of vulnerability, but in this instance he's the "strong" one providing protection. Maybe his love for his sister makes him vulnerable ...? *stops reading into things* LOOK, NAKED :B

WOW! THis is fantastic! I really love how you colored this, i cant belive its cell shading. I really love the woman's face and the man's body. The detail is great! The feelings are intense.

wow, that IS a different kind of coloring but your cel-shading still maintains that soft look your colorings always have, so it looks pretty unique that way. Anyways, I like it a lot
What you say about her facial expression amuses me - I thought the same thing and with that in mind the picture can be viewed in a more lighthearted way as well

Oddly enough, the way Solais' arms have ended up from that hug, it looks much as if her wrists were tied together with a rope, only that the rope's missing. But one could imagine this rope. It's called "love". So it looks like "Keep embracing me if it helps you..."

This is fantastic. I love the relationships and expressions you give all your characters, but what I really love is how solid all of them are. It's obvious with all these pictures how much you've invested in these characters. Can't wait to see more!

Gorgeous... gorgeous work. I'm still trying to take in all the interesting aspects of it. I really love the way you did the color, the cel style REALLY worked well for this, and I like how the shading is almost kind of hatching in some places, with the little individual lines. :]
Also, the colors are nice and warm, which really suits the sketch, I think.

You got the cel-shading to really do justice to them. I think it's actually very in line with how (seemingly) rigid Rhys' vision of the world is. And at first glance, the colors actually blend smoothly together, and don't have the normal edges I notice with this coloring style.
