Description A female Mandarin duck in Volkspark Berlin-Friedrichshain. She and her hubby were pretty cool about being photographed, and their little ducklings, sleeping close by in a heap, couldn't mind less when I approached them for some shots.

I don't think I've ever seen mandarin ducks. We have lots of mallards here.

I love Mandarin Ducks, they are so beautiful. What I find amazing is how *female* the females look - they've got a very soft expression.

I only know them in pictures .. if they are in N America I've never seen one ... this one does look like she has a very very sweet disposition

They must be the most beautiful ducks, or at least they are the most beautiful ducks I've ever seen. Perhaps it's too cold for them in Sweden.

Thanks for you kind words. I was lucky, because she was a very calm duck. She allowed me to come pretty close, and the light was nice that evening.
