Description Another acorn woodpecker examining an orange in the oak tree outside my window. They sure do like the fruit - which was a surprise to me!

I was trying to get the transient oriels to come closer but the acorn woodpeckers were a treat too

I was standing in my driveway Thursday when a bird flew around my head and landed on my shoulder. It was a tame Green Cheeked Conure. Beautiful bird and very tame. Had to get him to the animal people on Friday. I had a lot of fun with him, but, sadly, couldn't keep him.

I check again Friday. I told the people that it had better be treated well and that I would be back.

It was really a 'people bird'. It liked to be hand fed and wanted to stay on your shoulder. I have it at a guy's house that will take good care of it. I had to get him away from me fast as, in less than one day, the bond was really getting strong. I check on him on Friday. I told the guy he better be in damn good shape when I come back. I looked up cost/year up keep on one; it's ~$1500.

Stop that, I still think about the little thing, but they require constant attention. They're worse than dogs and smarter too.

Oh, and, so far, no lost bird signs. They stay close to their house for about a month and the move on.
