Thank you so much! I don't do many so it's nice that someone thinks I did an ok job.

Very detailed critique! I didn't understand most of them (the details) but the photo is awesome!

Sometimes you're very funny. Is there any of it you'd like me to explain?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

JocelyneR In reply to LoneWolfPhotography [2009-07-30 00:25:40 +0000 UTC]

I just wanted it to be funny.
It is because I didn't really understand most of it, of course. I went to the critique because I was curious but it puzzled me... You know that I don't have any knowledge, I am kind of raw in photography.
It would be too hard and too long for you to explain it too me.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

LoneWolfPhotography In reply to JocelyneR [2009-07-30 17:31:24 +0000 UTC]

Well, the road to knowledge is paved with questions. Did I just say that?

JocelyneR In reply to LoneWolfPhotography [2009-07-31 00:17:27 +0000 UTC]

Very nicely said! It is the first time I hear this "quote" from you. And it is so very true... Be careful, I might ask you many more questions.

LoneWolfPhotography In reply to JocelyneR [2009-07-31 05:20:25 +0000 UTC]

Fire away whenever you feel the need. I'm always willing to answer them. If I don't know the answer I'll help you find it.

I wonder if I just made up that quote or if it has already been invented. Either way, I surprised myself there.

Thank you again for your nice offer.
Right away, I have a question for you (but I am a bit confused): what does "lmao"
signifies?
And I think that you have just invented the quote.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

LoneWolfPhotography In reply to JocelyneR [2009-07-31 06:21:17 +0000 UTC]

Good, then it's MY quote!!

Um, lmao translates to laugh my a** off

JocelyneR In reply to LoneWolfPhotography [2009-07-31 06:26:34 +0000 UTC]

Very nice!
Sorry, I still don't understand, is it impolite?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

LoneWolfPhotography In reply to JocelyneR [2009-07-31 06:29:14 +0000 UTC]

Well, some people may be offended at the word so I try to be respectful. figure I should err on the side of politeness. It's not really that bad though when you think of the things most people say every day now.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

JocelyneR In reply to LoneWolfPhotography [2009-07-31 07:20:46 +0000 UTC]

We hear bad word on TV all the times. I don't like it at all. It is the very same here in French, it is even worse, young people have a very poor vocabulary.
Well, thanks, I know what lmao means...

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

LoneWolfPhotography In reply to JocelyneR [2009-08-01 01:28:04 +0000 UTC]

Yep, same here....young people just say anything and don't care who hears it. I think they think it makes them sound cooler or more grown up.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

JocelyneR In reply to LoneWolfPhotography [2009-08-01 02:24:48 +0000 UTC]

Yes, they want to be cool with their friends, but they are forgetting the meaning of words if they have ever learned it.

LoneWolfPhotography In reply to ??? [2009-07-29 16:36:42 +0000 UTC]

Hmmm, although I don't recall it saying anywhere that I had gone over a "maximum size" limit of any kind, there must be one, because there was a bit more to this that has been cut off at the word composition at the bottom. I guess it's ok, though....I probably raved enough in the parts that remain. Great job Ruth.

Β  Nations Of The World - AMERICAEach country has its specificity, but certainly there are things that some peoples can boast that are better.
Speaking of things that are no better nowhere else than in the United States of America, it is appropriate to recall the unique places that this country has, and the people here.
Following a study, we will see ten things in which Americans excel.:icontruesmiles:

Exuberant Greetings

"Ahoy!", "Aloha!" "Hey!" "Hola!", "Howdy!" "Hiya!" "Ho there!" "Well, look who it is!" "What's happenin '?! "" 'Sup! "" Yo! "or "Hello!" are just some of the greetings that you may experience when you meet an American.
The variety and enthusiasm of these greetings come from friendly character that some Europeans may find it burdensome, but others find it charming and it is a very pleasant surprise. Either you pass thru a hotel, or through a store in which you want to buy a pair of shoes or you just want to walk, no chance to

This shot was a happy accident I hadn't been using digital for very long so I didn't know what would happen if I shot off the flash during a long exposure loved the result Β It was dark and foggy and hardly anybody else there but us four - usually this area is teeming with tourists...Β

It was taken my first year up in northern CA - hadn't been to San Francisco for decades - did a day trip down with two other photogs and my daughter...what a great day that was! Β Also incredible temperature variation = 108F (42C) at home and 50F (10C) at the Golden Gate bridge Β Thank goodness we'd been warned to bring some warm jackets! Β Now I know how so many sweatshirts get sold Β

I got them crisp by having the camera set for a long exposure but still having the in-camera flash fire when I first hit the shutter...I was totally blown away when I saw the screen

We talked about going back here on our last trip to SF but ended up walking around in Chinatown instead

I feel it is my most "wow" shot I was sooo excited when I saw the image on the screen (even if it was a tiny screen compared to what is out there now...) I got started with digital by purchasing a used Nikon D100 at a yard sale in 2007 - got bumped up to a D300s as an anniversary gift 2 1/2 years ago...

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

LASKANWLF In reply to kayaksailor [2013-05-28 16:11:39 +0000 UTC]

I've never used Nikon equipment (only Canon), but I've heard nothing but good things about them. My Canon D500 is my first digital and my current one.

Oh, and that was a "wow" shot all right!~

kayaksailor In reply to LASKANWLF [2013-05-30 01:12:17 +0000 UTC]

I had/have a Nikon film camera that I got in college so I knew it would be good but if I'd found a Canon at the yard sale I would have bought it The digital camera's of that quality were/are so expensive I never expected to be able to afford one

LASKANWLF In reply to kayaksailor [2013-05-30 02:14:22 +0000 UTC]

I bought 90% of all MY camera equipment online at such great deals Ruth. I would have to estimate that I spent no more than $1500-$1600 on my brand new Canon D500 with the 18-55mm IS lens, a Sigma 10-20mm super-wide angle lens, a Canon 70-200mm lens, and my Canon 100mm macro lens. And a Bogen Manfrotto monopod and tripod too!!

kayaksailor In reply to LASKANWLF [2013-05-30 04:47:55 +0000 UTC]

I know there are great deals out there! But not so much 8 years ago, lol. We got my Nikor 60mm macro online...your gear total is amazing I know lots of people have had to sell their stuff due to economic issues in the last five years...sadly for them, great for you
