I understand that one. I used to love winter nights but that was before I had a camera. I can't imagine trying to take pictures with frozen fingers and cold electronics.

Color has to do with your white balance level - if you can change yours drop it down to about 3700k Β (kevin) that will make things are "cool" rather than "warm" there for blue rather than yellow...
we ended up aiming differently than the "suggested" northeast - almost south! Β Which is why we were getting the milky way too...I didn't take more than about 50, maybe? Β and we moved around a couple times as the original planned spot had more ambient light from the dock lights than was really optimal Β this is a shot my daughter put together - stacked 8 minute shots to make the trails...but you can see how much light was on the shore acrosssss the lake from the lighted dock area...
Good luck tonight! Β We may go out on our deck or driveway and see what develops - but have been finding rattlesnakes around the last few days/nights so that makes us a bit leery

Thank you <3 ! I went thru mine today & I caught 2, but they are out of focus, lol. Maybe Labor Day weekend we can aim for Caples Lake, closer than Lookout MT
