Its a through back to classic Newspaper comics. A slice of life show much like Hey Arnold or Peanuts.
All of the characters at 1st feel like tropes, the goth one, the tomboy, the princess, the dumb blond, the valley girl, the scientist etc but it shows again and again its more then just that. each character has personality deeper then just those traits.
it also takes a lot of the same humor you see in Love Hina, Tenchi Muyu, Shuffle, Please twins, Fruits Basket, threes company, Girls Bravo, and it removes the sexuality by having the cast all be related. Plots focus on the importance of family and the difficulty of males and females sharing space under one roof rather then the sexual tensions of girls all being in love with one guy who has them all fighting over him when he's trying hard to remain a gentlemen around them. Loud House is to Japanese Anime Harem genre what Star Vs is to the Magical Girl anime. The same plot, but more suitable for kids vs how amines can often be more mature. The anime nose bleed gag is still used.
It also does content cartoons didn't used to do. There's a little more bathroom humor then you would have gotten in the 80s and more then once now the series has been Pro LGBT.
1st season was very Girls vs Boys and focused on the main guy. but each season after gets more heart warming.
the series does have episodes the fans hate, mainly any time the siblings fight or act mean to each other.
A lot of comedy comes from the same gags you see in a peanuts strip and many of the plots are similar to hey Arnold, The weekenders, Azumanga, one of your more realistic shows. There is occasional sci-fi but its minimal.
