Description As the walls are closing in
And the colors fade to black
And my eyes are falling fast and deep into me
And I follow the tracks that lead me down
And I never follow what's right
And they wonder sometimes when they see all the
Sadness and pain the truth brings to light

Time for some art!
I raped photoshop a bit and tried to rescue this picture, because the original quality sucks a bit. (bad light)

But I like the outcome! *__*
Normaly Im not that creative with photo manipulation.

Hope you like it!

Some of you might know the original picture of this.

Its inspired by the beautiful art of idea's "Blue Flame Series" (doujinshi). YouΒ΄ve to read it!

Oh and it seems that I missed the 300.000 k!!! WOW!
I have been a little distracted the last weeks, but now...

THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!

...So it's bad modeling.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

ValeforFayth In reply to maduc [2009-10-11 03:18:24 +0000 UTC]

Absolutely not. There is no problem with the models or the cosplays here. Anyone can cosplay whatever they want, no matter their gender or the gender of the character. So what if in one shot their femininity shows through? That doesn't mean bad modeling whatsoever. It just happens. I dare you to call the work these two have done "bad modeling"

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

maduc In reply to ValeforFayth [2009-10-11 23:05:19 +0000 UTC]

Okay, let me rephrase. It's a good picture, but it's conveying something completely different from what they were intending (unless they were intending to convey female versions of the two characters, which I doubt). It's like asking a white dude to model Mr. T. If they want the picture to convey the two characters as well as they can, then why don't they get guys to model?

Oh, and I just did. In the post you replied to.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

ValeforFayth In reply to maduc [2009-10-12 01:14:36 +0000 UTC]

Well, I looked at your profile, and since you are a guy and seem to believe you can do better- do so. Portray them better than any girls could ever do. They have worked extremely hard on what they do, and have a great deal of talent. So what if one shot portrays them in a more girly light than usual. Who cares. What's really pathetic here is how disrespectful you are being of the work that these two have done. Crossplaying is extremely normal. It's quite common to see women cosplaying as men, and these two are a wonderful example of that. They don't need to get guys to do things for them, when they can do them perfectly well themselves.

Let me put this simply for you-
What is DeviantArt?
An art website
What is art?
The freedom to do whatever the hell you want, without having to be put down for it.
What are most of us on DA for?
To appreciate the works of others, not to try to insult them.

...'Cept I'm not trying to be good...

And I'm not saying they can't put it up, I'm saying it's not good.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

ValeforFayth In reply to maduc [2009-10-12 18:50:58 +0000 UTC]

But your reasoning for why its bad is rather pathetic. They're girls so it's not good. That sounds incredibly ignorant.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

maduc In reply to ValeforFayth [2009-10-12 22:46:36 +0000 UTC]

The fuck is it ignorant? They're girls, so it only makes sense that they'd portray guys badly. They could at least have makeup to make them look manlier.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 2

BlameMyMuses In reply to maduc [2009-12-08 05:10:48 +0000 UTC]

Except Edward is a rather effeminate character to begin with. Also, as a female crossplayer myself, I have to say I've been mistaken for a boy during a cosplay. You can't say girls can't cosplay boys because we can, and we will. In fact, we MOSTLY will, since in most anime the boys continue to have cooler costumes. 'Nough said. Sorry you're a bigot. *raises eyebrow*

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

maduc In reply to BlameMyMuses [2009-12-08 15:59:16 +0000 UTC]

I'm not a bigot, I just have the belief that art should be done as perfect as possible, and the fact that this picture is supposed to be one of two guys, yet it's obviously two girls, it's nowhere near perfect.

But that's just me.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

BlameMyMuses In reply to maduc [2009-12-08 17:47:40 +0000 UTC]

However, this is not based on the actual series, but rather on a beautiful doujinshi--amazing art, by a very young artist--and the artist brings out a softer side in both characters in question. You would have to find two very VERY delicate-, or fine-boned young men (of the sort not readily available in the West...), or two rather androgynous women. In this case, the women were a perfect choice, and you display a blatant case of sexism and narrow-mindedness by saying that men should only be portrayed by men. Didn't theatre throughout the centuries REGULARLY use men to portray women? And in the days of racism and bigotry, white men played black men because black men weren't allowed on stage. You CANNOT tell me that two women make this picture any less lovely. If you didn't know the characters were supposed to be male, it would still be a gorgeous photo, and to suggest otherwise is simply ignorant.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

maduc In reply to BlameMyMuses [2009-12-09 22:14:32 +0000 UTC]

...So you're saying that men acted women and white men played black men just as well?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

BlameMyMuses In reply to maduc [2009-12-10 07:46:56 +0000 UTC]

Historically, yes. And even today, the role of Peter Pan on stage is traditionally played by a woman, rather than an actual little boy. Also, in voice acting it's very VERY common for a woman to do the voice of a young boy. In Japan, Edward Elric was voiced by Paku Romi--a woman. Other popular characters that--in English--are male, but voiced by women, include Ash from Pokemon, and Naruto (if I'm not mistaken). Envy from Fullmetal Alchemist is male (mostly) and voiced by a woman in both the Japanese and the English. Alphonse, Ed's brother, is voiced by a woman in Japan...in the English dub, Funimation did something fairly rare, and actually cast a young boy for his voice.

So, you see, in the theatre/acting/arts world, cross-gender portrayals are more than common, they are even expected at times.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

maduc In reply to BlameMyMuses [2009-12-11 16:24:08 +0000 UTC]

Women play Peter Pan because it's easier to get a good woman actor than an experienced kid actor. Same with voice actors. Women have higher voices, so they can play adolescent characters better than men can. It all has to do with experience and the fact that teenagers are in school. Why else do you see 20+ year-olds playing teenagers in movies that take place in High School?
