Description
The river Lethe from the Greek mythological Underworld. Part of a series of five oil paintings featuring the five rivers: Styx, Acheron, Lethe, Phlegethon, Kokytos.Lethe is the river of forgetfulness and oblivion. When spirits entered the Underworld, they would drink of her water to forget their old lives, so that they could find rest and comfort in the afterlife, free of the burden of memory.
