Description
The river Styx from the Greek mythological Underworld. Part of a series of five oil paintings featuring the five rivers: Styx, Acheron, Lethe, Phlegethon, Kokytos.Styx is the chiefest of the rivers of the Underworld, as well as the goddess of hatred, and the holder of the gods' oaths. When they needed to swear upon something that would be binding to them, they would swear upon her.
